About Storied Culture

Our mission is to bring awareness to and provide a platform for the expression of cultural stories and causes through statement apparel. We want you to: wear your story.

Sometimes less is more. The beauty of simplicity is its innate profundity.

From this frame of reference, our humble beginnings started with the inspiration of word long before that creative form trickled down to apparel. We journeyed down the endless, winding path of expression. We pondered, “how do we say something without saying anything?” Then we asked, “what’s the highest form expression?”, landing on the obvious – art. Painting is art. Poetry is art. Fashion is art. To make it simple, imagery + words + clothing = expression.

But express what? Express narratives, community, and lifestyle. Express education, activism, and passion. But we wanted to wear it.

Fast forward through countless hours of market research, customer surveying, logistics, fabric and product sampling, manufacturers, font selecting (really?), branding, content creation, website and logo design, commerce solutions, slogans, missions, avatars, etc. etc. There is a lot that goes into building a brand. And after throwing all of our ingredients into the bowl, what came out was more than just shirts and accessories. What emerged was statements, stances, and style, all baked into the simple, ultimate sophistication of black and white. Classic, yet contemporary.

Homegrown in Raleigh, NC, we are more than just a clothing company. Our goal is to stretch our fabrics beyond borders to engage people from all walks of life to tell their stories through our attire. Storied Culture aspires to build an international, leading brand in the area of statement apparel. We support charities with portions of our profits and always look to source the finest quality and eco-friendly materials. We will continue to evolve. We hope you join us on this journey.

“Everybody has a voice and a story. We serve as the platform for them to be heard.”

When the idea of Storied Culture was birthed back in 2019, we were already swimming in thoughts of activism and breaking bondages for free expression. The team was well on our way to launching by the late spring of 2020. Then the pandemic hit… Then George Floyd… Then we learned about Ahmaud Abrey… Breonna Taylor…and countless others… With the world confined to their homes due to government shutdowns, the civil unrest took visual center stage, not just domestically, but worldwide. It seemed like the perfect time to launch our statement pieces! But somewhere inside, wrestling with the realities of systemic racism, polarized election-year political climates, and still aching from the losses of Kobe Bryant and Chadwick Boseman, we felt the need to break from everything and give ourselves time to deal with our anger, frustration, grief, and mourning. This lasted longer than we had anticipated.  We also thought that there were so many people trying to profit from all of these tragedies and happenings, that it just…didn’t…feel right. Eventually, we wiped away tears, prayed through our indignations, and decided that we needed to try and move forward. Besides, from the onset, our whole purpose was to provide personal forums. Everybody has a voice and a story. We serve as the platform for them to be heard. It just so happened that now, we were the ones screaming on the inside, yearning for our thoughts and emotions to be unleashed. Thus the flames were relit, the energy rekindled, and the inspiration reignited. We know that there are many others out there, just waiting for an opportunity to share their sentiments. Storied Culture is ready to assist.
